From February 2 to 5, 2026, the Preparation Week for the 48th WorldSkills Competition was held in Shanghai. Wang Xiaoping, Minister of Human Resources and Social Security and Executive Director of the Organizing Committee of the 48th WorldSkills Competition, Gong Zheng, Mayor of Shanghai and Executive Director of the Organizing Committee, and David Hoey, CEO of WorldSkills, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. The event marked an important stage in the competition's preparation and is expected to further promote skills talent development, support new quality productive forces, and enhance Shanghai's opening-up and international engagement.

As the technical support unit for the Fashion Technology skill, Shanghai Textile Industry Workers' college assigned CHEN Qiong from the General Administration Department to serve as Area Manager for the Creative Arts and Fashion Sector. YU Qianwen and ZHAO Kaiyu from the School of Fashion, together with TONG Yi from the School of Fashion Business, participated in the event as Venue Manager and Assistant Venue Managers for the Fashion Technology skill. During the Preparation Week, the team was actively involved in key tasks including venue planning, infrastructure review, staffing arrangements, and event support, working closely with the international Skill Competition Manager to contribute to the smooth preparation of the event.

During the event, LYU Wenjun, Party Secretary of SIFEC, and DING Miao from the International School attended the launch ceremony of the OSOM initiative. On behalf of SIFEC, they established partnership relations with WorldSkills teams from Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The initiative aims to promote skills demonstration, cultural exchange, and dialogue among young people, while further advancing international exchange and cooperation in the field of skills development.

Under the leadership of the school, the SIFEC WorldSkills team completed all tasks of the Preparation Week with dedication, professionalism, and close teamwork.
