On March 6, to celebrate the 116th International Women's Day, SIFEC labor union organized a visit for female faculty and staff to the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP). The event offered an opportunity to enjoy art, celebrate the occasion, and experience the cultural charm of the city.
Located along the Huangpu River in the core area of Lujiazui, the MAP stands next to the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Shanghai International Convention Center, facing the historic Bund across the river. Designed by Pritzker Prize winner Jean Nouvel, the museum officially opened in July 2021. As an important landmark for international cultural exchange in Shanghai, it is dedicated to presenting world-class art exhibitions while also promoting local art and public art education.

Our female faculty and staff visited two exhibitions at MAP: Picasso for Asia highlights a dialogue between tradition and modernity, history and the future, while also presenting new inspiration across different artistic and cultural contexts; Wonder Patterns: Masterpieces of Indian, Iranian and Ottoman Art from the Louvre Collection, the Louvre's first exhibition in Shanghai and its largest exhibition in China to date, showcases the artistic achievements of India, Iran, and the Ottoman world from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
Staff from the School of New Media provided guided explanations throughout the visit. In a rich artistic atmosphere, female faculty and staff enjoyed the exhibitions, exchanged views, and took photos. The visit offered both artistic enjoyment and cultural inspiration, while deepening participants' understanding of Shanghai's international character and its connection with global art and contemporary urban culture.
