District CPPCC Holds Planning Seminar on the Future Development of the “Suzhou Creek Left Bank”

On the afternoon of December 4, 2025, the District Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) convened a planning seminar at Shanghai International Fashion Education Center (SIFEC) to discuss key issues related to regional development. The meeting was chaired by WENG Huajian, Vice Chair of the District CPPCC.

Prior to the discussion, participants toured the SIFEC campus, gaining first-hand insight into its innovative environment and distinctive strengths in fashion education, which provided a practical foundation for the subsequent dialogue.

During the seminar, XU Tianyu, Vice President of SIFEC, presented an initial concept for the development of the “Suzhou Creek Left Bank.” The proposal focuses on integrated planning for specific sections along Suzhou Creek, including functional positioning, cultural exploration, and vitality enhancement. The aim is to shape the area into a landmark space that reflects regional identity, improves urban quality, and better serves the public.

In the discussion session, CPPCC members and representatives shared views on key aspects such as strategic positioning, implementation pathways, cultural depth, industrial integration, and supporting public services. Drawing on their professional expertise and practical experience, participants offered forward-looking and constructive suggestions in a lively exchange.

The seminar forms part of the District CPPCC’s preparatory work for an upcoming annual plenary meeting. By pooling ideas and building consensus, the discussion helped further clarify policy perspectives and practical approaches, contributing intellectual support for informed decision-making and high-quality regional development.
