As spring arrived in Shanghai, SIFEC welcomed a study tour group from ROC Mondriaan in the Netherlands for a five-day cultural and fashion program. The program offered students an immersive introduction to Eastern aesthetics, traditional crafts, new Chinese fashion, and Shanghai-style culture.

Through lectures, workshops, and cultural activities, students built a basic understanding of Chinese aesthetics. Courses such as The Charm of the East: Decoding Chinese Aesthetics and Chinese Colors Through the Ages introduced them to key ideas in Chinese aesthetic traditions, including order, artistic mood, and subtle beauty.

In the image and styling course, students explored personal style, outfit coordination, and self-expression. Through interactive learning, they were encouraged to rethink the role of clothing, posture, and overall image in shaping identity and personal presentation.

The program also introduced students to Shanghai's cultural character. At the Shanghai Museum exhibition QIPAO: Glamour and Modernity beyond Shanghai, they explored the development of the Shanghai-style qipao and gained a deeper understanding of the city's distinctive aesthetic shaped by tradition and modernity.

At a traditional teahouse, students experienced Song Dynasty-style tea whisking and learned about the etiquette and beauty of Chinese tea culture, offering another perspective on traditional Chinese life and aesthetics.

The successful completion of the program further strengthened the connection between SIFEC and ROC Mondriaan. Moving forward, SIFEC will continue to expand its international fashion education network, promote more cross-cultural exchange programs, and share the story of Chinese fashion and culture with the world.
