From July 28 to August 4, three SIFEC faculty members took part in a training program at Royal College of Art (RCA) in London, alongside 15 professors from leading Shanghai universities.
The program featured lectures by RCA professors on interdisciplinary teaching, project-based learning, and emerging trends in design education. Workshops immersed participants in RCA’s creative pedagogy, while the closing session included a presidential address, certificates of completion, and the RCA Digital Master’s Graduation Show.
Following the program, SIFEC faculty visited Central Saint Martins to study knitwear design pedagogy, studio practices, and industry integration. They also engaged with Oscar Ouyang, a CSM graduate-founded brand, exploring how innovative knitwear translates into commercial success.
This
eight-day visit deepened understanding of international postgraduate education,
updated teaching and research perspectives, and strengthened industry
connections. The insights gained will support the development of SIFEC’s
knitwear program, enhance international collaboration, and contribute to the
establishment of a master’s program in Fashion and Apparel Design with Shanghai
Sanda University.
