Course Introduction

SIFEC Fashion Upcycling Program lasts 2 days, including theoretical knowledge and classroom practice, suitable for all skill levels. Students will learn basic fashion design theories and comprehensively master upcycling design knowledge and practical skills. Against the backdrop of the current environmental protection movement, the course effectively combines upcycled clothing design with eco-friendly design principles.

Throughout the course, students will discover a wide variety of items around them that can be upcycled—not only clothing but also shoes, bags, accessories, furniture, and various household items. The upcycling course uses discarded clothing as part of

the fabric, helping to save on material costs.

Passionate about fashion design, focused on eco-friendly design, and harboring fashion dreams, working professionals.

Individuals with excess or outdated clothing who are reluctant to discard them and seek unique dressing styles.

Craft enthusiasts with good innovation ability, possessing high fashion aesthetics and trend awareness, looking to enhance their creativity.

Anyone needing garment upcycling, such as brand founders, business managers, fashion entrepreneurs, buyers and multi-brand store employees, visual merchandisers, store operators, clothing sales staff, boutique owners and managers, exhibition and display designers, visual merchandising designers, commercial space designers, and related university students.

Course Content

DAY 1 Basics of Upcycled Garment Reconstruction

How to creatively upcycle old clothes

Design techniques for upcycled garments (deconstruction and reconstruction, etc.)

Covering limitless creativity in upcycling, deconstruction and reconstruction methods, garment structure and design techniques, and garment craftsmanship to understand the diversity of garment modification and fabric materials.

 

DAY 2 Craftsmanship and Design Practice for Upcycled Clothes

Creative practice guidance for upcycled garments

Using design and aesthetic thinking to enhance upcycling and styling skills, improving garment wearability

Focus on garment style design, decorative materials, accessories, and how to integrate original style, materials, and fabrics in upcycling design. Guidance on partial design techniques and practical creation for upcycled garments.
