【Course Introduction】

SIFEC Future Designer Creation Camp is presented by Shanghai International Fashion Education Center (SIFEC).

Target: students aged 8-16 who are interested in fashion design and want to get basic knowledge of fashion design to become fashion designers.

Professional mastery: through systematic study, students are able to learn the basic methods and principles of fashion design and production, improve practical ability, and apply them to life.

In the process of personal design and production, students will gain clothing system knowledge, clothing effect picture design ability, clothing matching points, fabric creation, basic knowledge of draping, ready-to-wear style application, ready-to-wear runway wear.

【Course Content】

< Production of Inspiration Version >

Learning objectives: discover and explore how to get design inspiration. Discover the art in life, express the design inspiration through the form of collage art, complete the making of inspiration version (Moodboard), and express personal design style and design concept.

< Basic Knowledge of Clothing >

Learning objectives: learn the basic professional knowledge of fashion design.

From history and system content, students can learn modern fashion design from a more professional perspective. This includes various derivative points of fashion design, such as explaining the source of inspiration from designer’s perspective, extracting elements to design and produce a series of clothing and so on.

< Clothing Effect Picture >

Learning objectives: through study, students can understand and learn the design method of creative expression of clothing, distinguish the influence of different fabrics on overall clothing, try different color matching, learn and try combination, and finally draw the effect picture of the clothing under the guidance of the teacher.

< Ready-to-wear Design >

Learning objectives: learn the basic knowledge of draping. Students give full play to their creativity and complete creative dress design. From source of inspiration to design idea, color, selection of fabrics, and production... Finally, students make their own dresses.

< Effects Show >

Learning objectives: learn the relationship between clothing and styling. Students will learn how to properly mix and match styles, add accessories and other auxiliary tools and use them in ready-to-wear runway shows. While walking the runway, personal clothing design portfolio will be displayed to express the design concept and creative ideas.

He has been working in the field of clothing for more than 40 years, mainly engaged in clothing teaching and professional research and development. His research direction is clothing engineering and measurement, clothing plate making, and digital high-end suit customization.

ZHOU Jing

She has been working in the field of clothing for more than 20 years, serving as a lecturer in Donghua University and other universities, as well as a technical engineer for a number of garment enterprises. She is mainly engaged in teaching and research of garment structure design, garment draping and other courses and engaged in the research of digital volume modeling of clothing as well.

LIU Zhan

Her research direction includes creative design of clothing fabric, knitting design and craft, and development of knitting pattern. She is responsible for the launch activities of the school's graduation design works in Shanghai Fashion Week and the operation of SIFEC knitting design strike-off space. She was awarded as Excellent Teacher of Shanghai Adult Colleges in 2019.

YU Qianwen

Teacher of Fashion Design Major, Arts and Crafts Artist, Master of Art Design from Donghua University

Master Degree in Fashion Design from Istituto Europeo di Design.

She has 10 years of experience in style design and product development for fast fashion brands and knitting brands at home and abroad. In the past two years, she has taught fashion design in East China Normal University, Sanda University, SIFEC Fashion School and Marangoni Istituto (Italy). Her teaching focuses on cultivating the divergence of students' design thinking, combining the woven fabric or knitting organization structure with the design style of clothing, so that students can personally recognize the surface effect of fabric brought by the changes of different needle types, density, yarn composition and organization structure in the process of practical operation on the machine, and improve their ability to express design works through the knitting process. At the same time, students' creativity and aesthetic ability can be stimulated and enhanced.

She graduated from Donghua University majoring in Textile Materials and Textile Design, and has nearly 20 years of industry experience. She once worked as the manager of R&D department of fabric in a well-known textile enterprise and is now the director of business development, director of research department, director of fiber laboratory of Shanghai Textile Museum, member of China Textile Engineering Society, member of Shanghai Textile Engineering Society, guest lecturer of Jiaxing University and research supervisor of China Science Popularization Research Alliance.

Her main research fields are textile material structure and properties, fabric analysis, design and reconstruction, textile testing and characterization, protection and restoration of textile relics, and pattern analysis of ancient textiles. She is the author of the series of books "Fiber Cognition", "Fabric Recognition", "Physical and Chemical Testing" and "Fabric Care", and has published many works in well-known journals at home and abroad, including SCI, EI, ISTP and Chinese core journals.

She has mastered various craft skills and accumulated rich knowledge and practical experience in garment craft. Also, she provides guidance to those students who have applied to international famous colleges such as St. Martin's and London College of Fashion in their work albums and graduation works. She is mainly responsible for the daily management of the training room and the technical support of clothing technology, participates in the exploration of clothing 3D technology, and provides high-quality technical counseling.
